One thing that I have not shared with you all is that I love to run. I used to run daily but over the past year or so I have given up that habit due to a lack of spare time, excess homework, and, well, utter laziness. With the start of summer and abundance of spare time on my hands, I recently began running again! I’m not even going to pretend I’m a long distance runner, but a good 1.5 mile run in the morning is definitely better for me than rewatching Gossip Girl. I love the adrenaline rush I get while running and the feeling I get afterwards, accomplishment. Just knowing I finished a run makes me feel great. I have used an app to track my running, and so far I have run a total of 45.98 miles this summer! So, since I have loved running so much lately, I decided to share my running essentials with you all. Here goes!
1. A Good Stretch
The first thing I have to have before I run is a good stretch. My stretches include lunges, toe touches, straddles, splits, and more that I don’t know what to call.. I’m always sure to stretch pre-run so I don’t pull any muscles or hurt myself while I run.
2. A Headband
I don’t know about you, but I’m not a big fan of hair beating against my back or flying into my face while I run, so I’m always sure to have a hair elastic and a headband. 3. A Good, Upbeat Playlist
Another thing that I could not run without is my music. I always start my run with my favorite upbeat song. One thing I’ve noticed about myself as a runner is that my pace tends to increase with the beat of the song, so music is definitely a must have for me while running (and in general.) 4. Runtastic Pro
My next running essential is an app that I discovered recently and I have absolutely loved using! It’s called Runtastic Pro and it tells you everything about your run, walk, or bike ride, from dehydration to your elevation gain/loss. It encourages you in a Siri-like voice and keeps a running total of miles you’ve run/walked/biked over the period of time in which you’ve used the app. You can even challenge your previous times!
5. A Cute Workout Outfit
In case you haven’t noticed, I’m a huge fan of cute clothes and the color pink, so it’s no surprise that this is my favorite running ensemble. This Jadelynn Brooke shirt is so bright, it makes me happy even in the most tiring moments of my run, not to mention it makes it really hard for a car to overlook and hit me. 6. Water & A Post Run Snack
After my run, I need water! I also love a light, cold, sweet snack, so I usually reach into my refrigerator for a Yoplait Light yogurt in Vanilla, Boston Crème Pie, or Red Velvet Cupcake. Yogurt is my go-to snack because it’s sweet but not terribly unhealthy plus it’s so refreshing after a run!

I’m a clean freak, so post-run showers/baths are a must for me.
