If you’ve read any of my concert posts, you’ve probably figured out that I love live music. Over the summer, I came across the Music Midtown 2016 lineup and absolutely fell in love with it. Everything about it seemed perfect; it was on a Saturday and Sunday this year (which meant that I didn’t have to miss any school), Atlanta is only a two hour drive from my mom’s house, the tickets were very reasonably priced, and the lineup was honestly irresistible. After a ton of begging and working around the house to raise the money, I convinced my mom to take me, my little sister, and my friend, Scout, to Music Midtown.
We attended Music Midtown the weekend of September 17th and 18th. This was my first music festival and overall I had a phenomenal experience, despite the storm (and evacuation) on Sunday. If you live anywhere near Atlanta, you should definitely look into Music Midtown next year. There are very few music festivals in the southeastern United States and Music Midtown did not disappoint! There were a variety food venders (I have to say I was impressed by the humongous and delicious pizza slice I had on Sunday), an artist signing shack (that’s where I met Daya), and aside from the rain delay/evacuation Sunday afternoon most of the performance times ran according to schedule. I realize there’s no way for me to possibly sum the festival up by writing about it the way I usually write about concerts, so I decided to make a video instead. I haven’t made a video like this for you all before, so I’d love it if you’d leave me some feedback in the comments if you like it! I recommend watching it in HD by clicking the “HD” next to the full screen button in the bottom right of the video. Enjoy!
The video in this post was created using iMovie and all of the clips were taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T6 and a EF-S 18-55mm lens. The background song is “East of Eden (Carousel Remix)” by Zella Day.
Here’s a list of the artists we saw/are featured in the video:
Zella Day // DNCE // Leon Bridges // G-Eazy // ColleGrove (Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz) // Twenty Øne Piløts // Daya // Melanie Martinez // GROUPLOVE // Kesha
I’ve also included some highlight pictures from the festival below! On Saturday, we made our way to the front row for G-Eazy and DNCE. We met Daya (sweetest person ever, by the way) and got to fulfill our middle school dreams of seeing Ke$ha (who has apparently dropped the $ in her name) on Sunday.
Thanks for reading! Again, let me know if you like the video in the post and I might do more of my travel posts this way! Also if you have any questions about Music Midtown or festivals in general, feel free to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org, I’d love to chat about it!
