About Me

Hello!  My name is Faith and I’ve been doing this whole blog thing for a little over four years now.  I’m currently a freshman at Baylor University in Waco, Texas where I’m majoring in journalism on the PR sequence and minoring in sociology.  I’m from North and South Carolina (my elementary through high school years were split between the two states and my family moved after I graduated so home is kinda complicated for me right now) but I was actually born in San Antonio, Texas!  My parents are divorced but both remarried, and I have three siblings between the two families — an older half-brother, a younger half-brother, and a younger (full) sister.  I love hot fudge sundae Poptarts, concerts, a good planner, dark chocolate, and everything about the Lone Star State (hence why I returned for college).  I’ve been super involved with the nondenominational Christian youth ministry, YoungLife, since my freshman year of high school and I’m currently a leader at Bosqueville High School here in Waco!  Something you’ll probably learn about me pretty quickly is that my faith is really important to me and I love using this platform to share about the ways God has worked in my life.  I’m so glad you’re here and I hope you enjoy what you read as much as I enjoy writing it!  My mission for this blog is to empower young women through faith, fashion, and adventure — life isn’t perfect but there’s still a whole lot of joy to be found in it.

Psalm 23:6; Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

What camera and lens do you use?: I use a Canon EOS Rebel T6 (find it here) with either a Canon EFS 18-55mm lens (here) or a Sigma 30mm F1.4 DC HSM lens (here) depending on the shot or video.  Any underwater pictures or videos you see were taken with a FujiFilm FinePix XP120 (here).

How do you make your travel diary videos?: I take the clips for my travel diary videos on the cameras mentioned above, then I import them to my MacBook, trim and edit them, and put them together in iMovie.

How old are you?: I’m eighteen!

When and how did you start your blog?: I started a “preppy fashion” Instagram page in the spring of 2014 and as it grew, I looked up to fashion bloggers such as Sarah Vickers of Classy Girls Wear Pearls, Carly Heitlinger of The College Prepster, and Abigail of Belle of the Ball.  I decided I wanted my own fashion blog and practically begged my parents to let me make one my whole eighth-grade year.  Finally, at the end of May 2015, my parents agreed to let me start a blog and A Pocketful of Prep was born.  After a year of thought, in May 2017 I changed my blog name to A Pocketful of Faith to make it a little more personal.  I use WordPress as a host site and found the setup process to be fairly simple.  I used the free plan for my first two years but upgraded to the premium plan to accommodate my need for more media storage space and use of videos!  If you’re interested in starting your own blog, you can get started by heading to wordpress.com.

Do you plan on going into fashion as a career?: My dream job has been shifting back and forth lately between working on a style column at Teen Vogue and going on YoungLife staff!  I’m currently just praying about it, going to college, and seeing where God takes me.

Feel free to email me at apocketfuloffaithblog@gmail.com with questions, blog post requests, business inquiries, etc., I’d absolutely love to chat!
