A Fall Look for Warm Weather

Every few days I’ll get lucky with a cooler day where I can actually wear seasonally appropriate clothes like booties and light jackets, but most days it’s still pretty warm in South Carolina this time of year.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite looks for these awkward fall days; one that features classic fall tones but won’t have you sweating by the end of the day!  Enjoy!

I picked up the cutest army green top from Altar’d State over the summer.  It has the worn in, flowy look that most of Altar’d State’s pieces seem to have as well as fun lace detailing on the hem and flattering stitching across the midriff.  I love this top for this time of year because the hue is so perfect for the season but the top itself has short sleeves and isn’t too heavy of a material.  I paired the top with ankle jeans and my Birkenstock Madrid sandals for a comfy fall look.  I dressed up the look a little with a pretty necklace I recently received from an Instagram jewelry boutique, Beads by Syd.  I adore the necklace’s dainty white and gold beading and the large statement stone!  This necklace is definitely on trend right now, but I don’t see it going out of style anytime soon, which is great because it seems to be great quality!  I kept the rest of my jewelry pretty simple given the size of stone on the necklace.

An Outfit Inspired by Abigail of Belle of the Ball

Unfortunately, due to a ton of weekend travels and busy school weeks I was unable to follow through with several of my monthly series during September.  I really hate that that happened but I have to prioritize school and I hate turning down an adventure!  Anyways, today I’m continuing one of my favorite series, “An Outfit Inspired by…” with a post featuring an outfit inspired by the well known Instagrammer and blogger behind Belle of the Ball (@belleoftheball45 on Instagram); Abigail.  I love coming up with outfits for this series because it’s so neat to realize how many things I have that I could totally see some of my fashion idols wearing.  You can find my other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts here if you’re interested in reading more!  Enjoy!

Abigail is a current sophomore at Mercyhurst University.  Despite her considerably young age, she has a ton of blogging experience under her belt, including working with countless brands like Vineyard Vines, SheIn, and Carolina Clothing Company and even being featured by Teen Vogue.  She’s been blogging since 2014 and I’d say she’s one of the girls who paved the road for teenage fashion bloggers everywhere.  Abigail uses her 60,100 follower Instagram, 8,000 follower Pinterest, and the occasional YouTube video to share her classic, preppy style with the world.  Abigail was without a doubt one of my biggest influences when I began my own blog and I still look up to her style.

Abigail styled the most adorable brown corduroy skirt last fall, and at the time I loved it so much I decided to purchase the same one for myself (I still wear it all the time!).  When she styled it again more recently, it occurred to me that this skirt should definitely make it to my outfit inspired by Abigail.  It’s easy to see just by scrolling through Abigail’s Instagram that she loves feminine details as well as layering, so I thought this pale blue button down with a ruffled collar would be perfect to layer under my blue vintage Ralph Lauren sweater.  She also seems to be pretty fond of leopard print right now, so I finished the ensemble with a pair of leopard print flats from J.Crew.  I kept the jewelry pretty simple with a gold monogram necklace, gold Kate Spade watch, and a little gold pave heart cuff from Aqua Kiwi.  The earrings are somewhat hard to see, but they’re just little pearl dangles.  Abigail doesn’t actually have pierced ears and often converts fun styles to clip ons so she can wear them anyways (I know this from watching her Instagram stories haha I’m not creepy I swear)!  I could definitely see her doing that with these classic pearls.

Army Green Accents

Now that the temperatures are finally beginning to drop here in South Carolina I’m starting to look at my fall wardrobe.  Fall fashion has to be my favorite; layering is just so fun and I love traditional fall tones like maroon, taupe, grey, blush pink, and army green.  I’m honestly ecstatic to start posting more autumn outfit posts, but in the mean time you can read mine from previous years here.  Today I’m sharing a fun fall look that I absolutely adore, and I think y’all will love it too!  Enjoy!

About a month ago I purchased the cutest red tank from J.Crew Factory, complete with fringe and embroidered details.  The best part about this purchase had to be the price, this tank was only $9.99!  It’s still on sale and also comes in navy, white, and yellow, shop it here!  I toned down the vibrant red with an army green utility jacket from a local boutique, dark wash ankle jeans, and my favorite pair of taupe colored booties.  I recently received a pearl choker from Bella Designs by Bree which is strung on army green suede that matches the jacket perfectly.  Be sure to check out Bella Designs by Bree and use my code “FAITH15” for 15% off!  The rest of my jewelry consisted of simple white and gold pieces including white pearl Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, a gold Kate Spade watch, and an adorable cuff from Cuffed by Nano.  The simple gold cuff says “Eat Pray Hustle,” which I think is too cute! Cuffed by Nano carries a ton of pretty and customizable jewelry pieces, check them out here!  I love this look for the fall and I’m sure I’ll get a ton of use out of it throughout the season.

A Mexican Top and Tassel Earrings

During my trip to Texas in August, I picked up the cutest traditional red embroidered top at the Mexican markets in San Antonio.  Y’all know how much I adore embroidery, and this top is no exception!  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to style it.  Enjoy!

Like I said, I purchased the shirt at a Mexican marketplace in San Antonio, TX, so it’s somewhat authentic and unique.  However, I found a similar one on Amazon and linked it at the end of this post!  The top is a bit on the longer side, like a tunic, so I think it looks really nice paired with my favorite pair of ankle jeans from Old Navy.  The gorgeous floral embroidery on the chest of the shirt contains dozens of colors, including pretty purples and blues.  The purple matches my favorite pair of stacked tassel earrings from E. Taylor Designs perfectly, so I thought they’d make a great accessory.  I also wore a couple Sashka Co. bracelets, including a blue and gold one that matches the embroidery as well.  The rest of my bracelet stack includes my MantraBand and Giving Key bangle.  With the loud shirt and earrings, I decided to keep the rest of the look simple with my Kendra Scott ivory pearl Elisa pendant necklace, gold Kate Spade watch, and gold Jack Rogers sandals.

How to Style Your Favorite Summer Sundress in the Fall

Today’s the first official day of the fall equinox and I couldn’t be more excited.  I adore fall fashion and I’m so happy to be sharing my first fall outfit post of the year with y’all today!  Speaking of happy… this post features my new favorite Jadelynn Brooke dress!  You can purchase the dress, along with anything and everything else on the Jadelynn Brooke website, for yourself 15% off with my code FLHS, and while it was designed for the spring and summer, you’re about to find out how to wear it in the fall!  Enjoy!

As much as I love fall fashion, I hate leaving my favorite summer sundresses behind.  This one, the Jadelynn Brooke Cami Dress in the print “Beachside Belle,” easily became my favorite this summer thanks to its adorable palm and polka dot print, adjustable straps, flattering shape, and pockets.  Yes, pockets!  As autumn approached, I was determined to find a way to bring it into the next season, and I think I found the perfect solution!  I thought the versatile color and cut of this oatmeal colored cardigan, which I purchased at Marshalls last winter, would look darling over the dress.  My favorite pair of tan suede booties also assisted in balancing out the bright summery print with more neutral fall tones.  As for jewelry, I matched a fun pair of tassel hoop earrings from E Squared to the coral details and lining of the dress and kept the rest of my accessories pretty simple.

Blues by the Boats

As I mentioned in my “Texas Travel Diary; Week 2” post (read it here), I spent my last weekend in Texas at the Rockport beach.  I had an amazing time in Rockport, as I always have since I began going as an infant.  One of my family’s favorite restaurants in Rockport is right next to a beautiful dock, so while we were out at dinner there our first night I shot today’s blog post!

It’s no secret that off the shoulder pieces have been seriously on trend this year (read my “Trend Tracking” post on off the shoulder pieces here), and I’m loving it!  I picked up this simple navy off the shoulder top on sale at Banana Republic (sadly this one is no longer available but I linked a similar top below!) over winter break and I’m so glad I’ve had the chance to pull it out a few times this summer.  I paired it with my favorite denim button front skirt from Forever 21 and some classic gold Jack Rogers sandals for a simple look that would be easy to accessorize.  I’d been saving this adorable blue bead and shell choker from E Squared for a beach trip and I was so happy to wear it!  I love the extra pop of blue it adds to the look and I think it’s just absolutely adorable.  Be sure to check out E Squared here for more cute jewelry!  Aside from the choker I wore mostly simple white and gold jewelry including my favorite Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, a couple Sashka Co. bracelets, a gold Kate Spade watch, a gold MantraBand, my Giving Key bangle, my silver cross cuff from Stella & Dot, and a thin rose gold ring.  Enjoy!

I pre-wrote this post about a week before Hurricane Harvey hit Rockport, and it just doesn’t feel right to upload this outfit post without mentioning the disaster.  I was so incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to visit Rockport this year just weeks before the small town was hit by the hurricane (see a couple pictures below).  I know that despite reconstruction efforts, the town will never be exactly the way my family remembers it.  My mother has been going to the Rockport beach since she was a child and seeing pictures of the destruction absolutely breaks her heart.  Please pray for Rockport as they begin to rebuild!

If you’re interested in aiding Rockport, TX in their restoration process, you can find the town’s GoFundMe page here.  It would mean the world to me if you’d make a donation!  If not, I’d like to reiterate that prayers are also definitely needed.  The citizens of Rockport are some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met and my heart is breaking for them knowing how much they’ve lost due to initial hurricane damage and flooding.
