Blue & Billowy

There’s something about a piece from a boutique that just makes it special, especially if that boutique is out of town.  The look I’m sharing today features one of my all time favorite tops – one I purchased from a boutique in my favorite beach town in Texas last year.  The great thing about boutiques is that it’s hard to find any one piece anywhere else, making it unique (and hard to link on the blog – sorry to tell y’all the top I’m linking today is not so similar to the one I’m wearing).  Finding creative ways to style unique pieces is strangely one of my favorite things to do, but today’s ensemble is a little more simple.  Enjoy!

The cut of this top is so unique – I guess it’s technically a poncho, but the soft fabric is super flowy and yet somehow a little flattering at the same time.  Since the top is almost a denim blue color itself, I like to pair it with other dyes, like these grey jeans.  The shirt’s free spirited aura made for a perfect opportunity to wear my key necklace and some other fun jewelry like my star earrings.  I haven’t had the heart to part with my friendship bracelets from the summer, but I’ve kept on my MantraBand, cross bracelet, and simple rings as usual.  As far as shoes go, I opted for my gold Jack Rogers sandals to give the look a polished finish.

Victory Vibes in Jadelynn Brooke

Ah, game day.  No matter who you’re rooting for, choosing an outfit is almost as fun as the game itself (maybe that’s just me?).  Some school colors can be harder to find than others, but luckily Jadelynn Brooke has us covered with some adorable football themed tees!  Today I’m sharing a cute and comfy look featuring their “Victory Vibes” long sleeve tee as well as one of their game day bags, which you can purchase 15% off with my code “FLHS”!  Enjoy!

I adore this tee not only because it has the sweetest little phrase across the front, but also because the sleeve details (jersey stripes and footballs!) and super soft material make it both cute and comfortable.  Not to mention, the simple grey, black, and white color scheme makes it perfect for almost any school.  I dressed up the tee with a denim skirt but kept my feet comfy in my black Vans sneakers because we all know how much we’re on our feet during, before, and after games!  I accessorized with my favorite Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, a few white and gold bracelets, my gold Kate Spade watch, and one of Jadelynn Brooke’s stadium approved game day bags.  I especially love this crossbody because it follows the new clear bag rules without being ugly or plain thanks to the iridescent material and precious pompom – way to go Jadelynn Brooke!

White After Labor Day

I think it’s pretty fair to say I’m typically a rule follower, whether that be at home, in school, or in fashion.  That said, I’ve been breaking a lot of my own fashion rules lately, including abiding by the good old “no white after Labor Day” rule.  Today I’m sharing an outfit that I think is just too good to give up when the weather is still so summery, and it just so happens to include a white denim skirt after Labor Day…sorry not sorry.  Enjoy!

This pretty peplum top with ruffled sleeves and the flattering v-neck is my favorite shade of pink, so I knew I had to buy it when I saw it at my local Marshalls over the summer.  I’ve loved styling it in a variety of ways, but I prefer to pair it with a white pant or skirt to keep the look light and girly.  My white denim skirt is the perfect match and I love the way the skirt’s distressing balances out the top’s girly ruffles.  I’ve been super into stars lately (as you’ve probably noticed), so it’s no surprise that I reached for these gold star lace up sandals when searching for a shoe to complete the look.  As for jewelry, I went for a few simple white and pieces and decided to double wrap my favorite Azúcar Accessories white druzy necklace for a trendy touch!

Yellow Stripes & Overalls

Shortly before I left for Work Crew in June I ordered an overall dress from Forever 21 to wear on western night each week throughout the month.  Sadly, the dress didn’t make it in time to pack for Saranac Village, however after a month of seeing my new Work Crew friends wear overalls, flannels, and the color yellow all the time I was ecstatic to start styling the overall dress when I opened it upon coming home.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to wear an overall dress for the summer.  Enjoy!

Obviously the overall dress needs to be layered over a top, so I thought this would be a fun opportunity to style my new yellow striped tee I recently purchased from Old Navy.  I recently noticed that I don’t own much yellow so this tee was a great addition to my wardrobe!  A small Instagram jewelry business called Beadz by Reese recently sent me this adorable yellow, orange, pink, and pearl choker which matches the tee perfectly.  Be sure to check out Reese’s Instagram here to find some fun pieces like this choker!  My friendship bracelets and Freestyle Shark watch have become everyday essentials since returning from camp so they obviously made an appearance in this ensemble!  I wore some simple gold earrings from BaubleBar’s line for Target, Sugarfix, and my Birkenstock Madrid sandals to complete the look.

Back to School Lookbook 2018

One of my favorite (and most consistent) posts to write since I began blogging is the back to school lookbook.  It’s seriously so wild to see how the time has flown; the first time I wrote this post I was about to be a freshman and I start senior year next week!  See my back to school lookbooks of years past here, here, and here, it’s crazy to see how my style has evolved!  I’ve always loved sharing these fun looks that can easily be recreated because I know firsthand that it can be hard to come up with fresh outfits for the new school year.  This is my second post in this year’s Back to School series, be sure to check out my last post (and all of my Back to School posts from previous years) here.  Let’s get into the post!

A Tank and a Cardigan

If you’re looking for a cute but casual look this back to school season and you live somewhere that you wouldn’t be absolutely miserable in a cardigan right now (or your school is just always cold), this one is for you!  Add a light cardigan like this fun off-white one from Old Navy (currently on sale and under $40 – my favorite cardigan I’ve ever owned!) to a fun but not dress code tank with some layered jewelry, jeans, and sandals for a put together late summer look.

White with Denim

This look is slightly more dressed up and is extremely similar to what I’m planning on wearing to school the first day of my senior year!  I love embroidered white tops like this one because they’re super versatile but the embroidered details make them girly and fun.  Pair it with a denim skirt and a pair of sandals for a nice and simple ensemble.  If you want to spice it up, add some fun jewelry like this colorful Beadz by Reese choker!

Casual with Stripes and Rips

Last but not least, this look is easy to throw on, comfortable, but also stylish!  A basic tee – whether it be crewneck or v-neck, solid or striped – a pair of ripped jeans (regardless of color as long as they don’t clash with the shirt!), and Birkenstocks make for an easy go-to outfit for this back to school season.  Accessorize with some fun earrings or a long necklace to take the look from basic to chic.  Transition this look into fall and even winter by adding a cardigan or jean jacket and trading out the sandals for a pair of slip on sneakers!

Summer Velvet

As trendy as velvet has become over the past couple of years, I’ve heard more than once that it’s meant to be worn exclusively in winter and fall.  While I agree that velvet is perfect for holiday parties, I don’t think its wear should be so limited!  Today I’m sharing a summery styling of my favorite crushed velvet skirt.  This look is completely appropriate for a summer night or even a fun day out on the town!  Enjoy!

I adore the versatility that comes with the blue velvet skirt’s dark hue, but to balance out the dark color for a brighter look I opted for a fun pink tee with ruffled sleeves.  This pink happens to match one of my favorite pairs of tassel earrings almost perfectly, so I thought they’d be a fun addition to the look!  Because the tassels are pretty loud on their own, I kept the rest of my jewelry pretty understated with my white pearl Kendra Scott Elisa pendant necklace, a few everyday bracelets, and my gold Kate Spade watch.  I decided to coordinate my shoes to my gold jewelry and reached for my gold Jack Rogers sandals.  I love this look’s contrast in colors and textures, how fun for a summer day!
