An Outfit Inspired by Abigail of Belle of the Ball

Unfortunately, due to a ton of weekend travels and busy school weeks I was unable to follow through with several of my monthly series during September.  I really hate that that happened but I have to prioritize school and I hate turning down an adventure!  Anyways, today I’m continuing one of my favorite series, “An Outfit Inspired by…” with a post featuring an outfit inspired by the well known Instagrammer and blogger behind Belle of the Ball (@belleoftheball45 on Instagram); Abigail.  I love coming up with outfits for this series because it’s so neat to realize how many things I have that I could totally see some of my fashion idols wearing.  You can find my other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts here if you’re interested in reading more!  Enjoy!

Abigail is a current sophomore at Mercyhurst University.  Despite her considerably young age, she has a ton of blogging experience under her belt, including working with countless brands like Vineyard Vines, SheIn, and Carolina Clothing Company and even being featured by Teen Vogue.  She’s been blogging since 2014 and I’d say she’s one of the girls who paved the road for teenage fashion bloggers everywhere.  Abigail uses her 60,100 follower Instagram, 8,000 follower Pinterest, and the occasional YouTube video to share her classic, preppy style with the world.  Abigail was without a doubt one of my biggest influences when I began my own blog and I still look up to her style.

Abigail styled the most adorable brown corduroy skirt last fall, and at the time I loved it so much I decided to purchase the same one for myself (I still wear it all the time!).  When she styled it again more recently, it occurred to me that this skirt should definitely make it to my outfit inspired by Abigail.  It’s easy to see just by scrolling through Abigail’s Instagram that she loves feminine details as well as layering, so I thought this pale blue button down with a ruffled collar would be perfect to layer under my blue vintage Ralph Lauren sweater.  She also seems to be pretty fond of leopard print right now, so I finished the ensemble with a pair of leopard print flats from J.Crew.  I kept the jewelry pretty simple with a gold monogram necklace, gold Kate Spade watch, and a little gold pave heart cuff from Aqua Kiwi.  The earrings are somewhat hard to see, but they’re just little pearl dangles.  Abigail doesn’t actually have pierced ears and often converts fun styles to clip ons so she can wear them anyways (I know this from watching her Instagram stories haha I’m not creepy I swear)!  I could definitely see her doing that with these classic pearls.

An Outfit Inspired by Carly Heitlinger of The College Prepster

Back in June I began a series called “An Outfit Inspired by…” in which I choose a style influencer (such as an actress, blogger, YouTuber, singer, etc.) to tell y’all about and model an outfit after!  I’ve loved this series so far and I think I’m going to try to keep it as a monthly series!  Read my other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts here.  Today I’m sharing a look inspired by Carly Heitlinger, better known as The College Prepster!  Enjoy!

Carly began her blog, The College Prepster, as a freshman at Georgetown University back in 2008.  Blogging has since become her full time job and now she lives in Connecticut with her dogs Theodore and Hamilton.  She frequents New York City and is often invited by various companies to attend events all over!  She has a verified Instagram, @carly, with over 205,000 followers which has inspired hundreds of “preppy” Instagram accounts since its beginning.  She also has a YouTube (linked here) which she occasionally uses to share vlogs and travel diaries.  Carly was definitely one of the first women to blaze the trail of fashion blogging, especially of the “preppy” sort, and her influence on other fashion bloggers is easily seen.  Carly’s style is definitely classic but she’s not afraid to dip her toes in the waters of tasteful trends.  If you don’t already follow her blog, you need to check it out here.  It’s iconic, and I don’t use that word lightly.

For my look inspired by Carly Heitlinger, I knew I wanted to try styling a silk scarf.  She recently shared a blog post about silk scarves (read it here), and I thought the whole silk scarf looked seemed very Carly, if you know what I mean.  My grandmother brought home a nautical navy silk scarf from Europe for me a few years ago and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get some use out of it!  Carly is all about the classic “prep” style, so I thought the scarf would pair nicely with a simple navy and white striped long sleeve tee.  I opted for some dark wash pixie cut jeans and nude flats to complete the sleek look.  Carly often wears nice bracelets but rarely wears more than one at a time, so I thought my old statement bracelet from J.Crew would be perfect.  I wore my Kate Spade watch as always and some gold Kate Spade bow stud earrings, because Carly loves Kate Spade and stud earrings.  That’s it!  How do you think I did recreating her look?

An Outfit Inspired by Kate of Lonestar Southern

Today I’m back with another post in the “An Outfit Inspired by…” series I began in June.  I’m not really sure if I plan on doing this every month or not, let me know what y’all think!  In case you need a refresher, in these posts I pick someone I view as a style icon that I think you might have already heard of, provide a little background on the person and their signature style along with some pictures of them, then I share an outfit I’ve put together inspired by this person!  If you missed my “An Outfit Inspired by Danielle Carolan” post I published last month, you can read it now here.  In today’s installment, I’m sharing a look inspired by Kate, the Texan blogger behind Lonestar Southern.

Kate is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin who currently lives in Dallas, Texas.  She’s well known for her fashion blog, Lonstar Southern, but also has a large following on her Instagram (linked here) and YouTube channel (linked here).  Kate’s style, as she describes it herself in her “Meet Kate” page, is “classic, colorful fashion that embodies a strong southern influence and a sprinkling of trends.”  I couldn’t have said it better myself.  Kate has made it clear to her followers that she loves a good sale, big ruffles, statement earrings, classic details, traveling, and a nice pair of wedges.  Her adorable southern accent can be heard in her YouTube videos and daily Instagram stories and she honestly seems like the sweetest person ever.

(The images above are from the Lonestar Southern website and belong to Kate.  Their respective blog posts are linked within the images!)

When I tried my hand at channeling my inner Lonestar Southern, the first thing I knew I had to somehow add to the outfit was a ruffle.  I had this classic navy off the shoulder top from Banana Republic in my closet already and I thought it would be perfect for this look.  I paired it with white jeans, as Kate wears white jeans constantly.  Kate is often seen in wedges, so I pulled out my TOMS wedges because they’re the closest thing I have to Kate’s beloved platform wedges.  She also adores statement earrings, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity to style these gorgeous turquoise beaded tassel earrings from St. Armand’s Designs  that look oh so similar to one of her pairs from Lisi Lerch.  Kate doesn’t appear to be incredibly fond of necklaces, so I left my neck bare.  She doesn’t wear a lot of bracelets either, usually just simple cuffs stacked with her watch, so I followed her lead by stacking my MantraBand and a cute old cuff from Stella & Dot around my Kate Spade watch.  Enjoy!

An Outfit Inspired by Danielle Carolan

During a recent livestream, I asked for some blog post requests.  One idea that I and all the other viewers loved was “An Outfit Inspired By…”.  Now I’m putting that idea to use in the beginning of a new series!  In these posts I’ll choose a person that’s somewhat famous or well known, like a celebrity, blogger, or YouTuber that I feel is a style influencer.  I’ll give a little background on this person and their signature style along with some pictures of them.  Then, I’ll share an outfit I’ve put together inspired by the person!  In today’s installment of “An Outfit Inspired By…” I’m sharing a look inspired by Danielle Carolan.  Let’s get started!

Danielle Carolan is a recent high school graduate from Tampa, FL who’s heading to the University of Georgia in the fall.  She has a YouTube channel (linked here) with approximately 321,000 followers, a verified Instagram page (linked here) with about 153,000 followers, and a blog,, which she uses occasionally.  Her motto is “she believed she could, so she did” and she includes that in her content whenever she can.  She’s known for her confidence, body positivity, and overall girl power and shares videos about those things as well as fashion, makeup, workout, and school related videos along with somewhat daily vlogs.  She uses her vlogs to bring her followers along to the mall, family movie night, photoshoots for major brands, and brunches with her friends, making them easy favorites for her followers.  Her signature style is trendy and chic and you’ll often find her wearing black, white and/or grey in her pictures and videos.  I love Danielle’s positive attitude, humor, sense of style, and simply how relatable she is.  She’s not perfect and she’s not afraid to show that.  If you don’t already watch her videos, I so recommend them!  Watch two of my favorite recent videos of hers here and here.  I also recommend following her Instagram here, she has a great theme going and the majority of her pictures are professionally taken.

(The images above are from Danielle’s Instagram and belong to Danielle Carolan.  Their respective Instagram posts are linked within the images!)

As I mentioned, Danielle seems to love black and white, so in my look I’m wearing a black and white striped tank over a white bralette.  She also loves most trends, and I’ve definitely seen her style a denim skirt before, so I thought my maroon button up denim skirt would be perfect to wear with the tank in this look.  She always wears the coolest shoes and I definitely think these black pointed-toe lace up flats would be her taste.  When Danielle shares her outfits in her vlogs, she always has on a small, simple gold necklace with a circular charm with the letter “D” on it, that she explains was a gift from her aunt.  She often layers it with other simple necklaces to finish the look.  I recently received a layered necklace that happens to have a circular charm as a birthday gift and I thought it looked super similar to her necklace I just mentioned, so I added that to my look as well.  I also received the “she believed she could, so she did” MantraBand, which she has, for my birthday so I thought that was a necessary detail as well.  She loves to stack simple rings, so the rose gold band I always wear fit into the look perfectly.  Danielle rarely wears earrings, so I left them out as well.  I tried to use some of the serious poses I see from her photoshoots, but let’s just say those poses work better for her.  See for yourself!
