An Outfit Inspired by Morgan Yates

February’s installment in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series is finally here!  In this series, I share a little about an influencer (whether that be a celebrity, blogger, YouTuber, or TV show character) that I love along with an outfit I’ve created with pieces from my own closet that mimics their personal style!  Click here to read my previous “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts!  In today’s installment I’m sharing an outfit inspired by another one of my favorite YouTubers, Morgan Yates.  Enjoy!

A 2017 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Morgan Yates has moved to Los Angeles and is taking the influencer industry by storm.  Morgan’s seven year old YouTube channel has over 265,000 subscribers and her corresponding Instagram has 35,400 followers.  Morgan’s relatable and hilarious personality, frequent travels, chic style, and college advice keep me coming back to her channel all the time.  I would describe Morgan’s style as edgy, trendy, and minimalist.  She frequently posts in black and white outfits, graphic tees, ripped jeans (especially black ones), cool sneakers, dainty gold jewelry, and spunky leather and denim jackets.

I recently purchased this fun black balloon sleeve sweater from ASOS, and I think the accent sleeves and triangular cutout in the back are totally something Morgan would wear.  Sticking to her often dark color pallet, I decided to wear grey jeans instead of blue ones.  Morgan loves trying out trends (and to be honest these grey jeans are a little bit big on my waist), so I thought my Gucci belt dupe (shop it here, only $15!) would be a great way to accessorize the look.  Inspired by her love for comfy and chic sneakers, I chose to wear my plain black Vans.  The spunky gold star earrings have been a personal favorite of mine lately but I could definitely see Morgan wearing them too!  The simplicity of the gold initial necklace as well as my everyday gold and rose gold rings also seem very fitting of Morgan’s style.

An Outfit Inspired by Kelly Larkin of Kelly in the City

Today I’m sharing another installment in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series!  This look mimics the style of one of my all-time favorite style bloggers, Kelly Larkin.  In my “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts, I tell y’all about one of my favorite influencers then share an outfit inspired by them that I came up with in my own closet.  If you’d like to read some of my previous posts in this series, you can find them here.  Enjoy!

Kelly Larkin is a wife, mother, and blogger who moved from New York City to Chicago in 2014.  She’s had her blog, Kelly in the City, since 2013 and also has a 70,800 follower Instagram, @kellyinthecity, where she frequently posts photos of her outfits and family, as well as a 7,120 follower Pinterest, @kellyinthecity.  She’s been married to her husband, Mitch, for a few years and had the most adorable daughter, Emma, in 2016.  Given that she lives in Chicago, a city known for being windy and cold, Kelly’s style is warm and preppy chic, often including lots of plaids, pastels, bright prints, sparkles, and stripes.

The first piece I knew I had to include in my outfit inspired by Kelly was my pink coat.  Coats are a must for Kelly in the cold Chicago weather and she’s not one to shy away from wearing them in fun colors like this pale pink!  Kelly loves a classy cable knit, so I thought my favorite white knit sweater could serve as a Kelly-esque top.  I opted for grey jeans to keep the look light and wore some fun leopard flats, as I’ve seen Kelly incorporate leopard flats into her daily looks several times.  Kelly keeps her jewelry pretty simple and preppy, so I stuck to some pearl earrings, a gold monogram necklace, and my Kate Spade watch.

An Outfit Inspired by Brooke Miccio

Today’s outfit post is another installment in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series!  This look mimics the style of one of my favorite YouTubers, Brooke Miccio.  In case you’re new to this series, in these posts I tell y’all about one of my favorite influencers then share an outfit I created inspired by them.  If you’re interested in reading some of my previous posts in this series, you can find them here.  Without further adieu, let’s get on with an outfit inspired by Brooke Miccio!

Brooke Miccio is currently a sophomore in college studying business at the University of Georgia but is originally from New York.  She’s had her YouTube channel, Brooke Miccio (formerly BrookexBeauty), since high school and over the past few years it’s blossomed into a 152,500 subscriber name that has given her lot of opportunities.  She also has a 42,000 follower Instagram, @brookemiccio where she frequently posts photos of her outfits and travels, as well as a 12,500 follower Pinterest, @brookemicc.  Her content frequently includes fashion, lifestyle, college, and travel videos as well as vlogs.  Brooke loves to travel and has taken several trips to Los Angeles, the Caribbean, and Europe.  She’s close friends with Danielle Carolan, another popular fashion and lifestyle YouTuber who attends the University of Georgia (I styled an outfit inspired by Danielle too, check it out here!).  Brooke’s style is trendy and minimalist, typically including lots of neutrals and chic jewelry.

(The images above are from the @brookemiccio Instagram page and belong to Brooke.  Their respective posts are linked within the images!)

In my attempt to imitate Brooke’s style, I chose to create an athleisure look, similar to outfits Brooke wears to class or to the airport.  She’s no stranger to ripped jeans, so I borrowed a pair my younger sister recently ripped to achieve the trendy, edgy look.  I recently purchased this grey lace-up sweatshirt from Old Navy, which I could totally see Brooke wearing, so I paired it with the ripped jeans.  Brooke, like me, adores her trendy and chic sneakers, so I opted for my white and gold New Balance for J.Crew sneakers.  As for jewelry, I chose a simple gold choker from KyzBeadz to match the shoes (plus I think Brooke has a gold choker like this one!).  I love all my KyzBeadz jewelry and I’d recommend checking Kylee’s Etsy shop out for more fun and trendy jewels!  The long and comfy sweatshirt sleeves cover my wrists and Brooke’s ears aren’t pierced, so I decided to leave my jewelry there.  Enjoy!

An Outfit Inspired by Dani Austin

Long time, no installments in any of my fashion-related series!  Today I’m excited to share a new post in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series featuring an outfit inspired by the Texan YouTuber and blogger behind Dani Austin (Dani Austin herself, ha!).  It’s so fun to experiment with different pieces in my closet until I create a look that truly reminds me of these influencers, so this series is definitely a favorite of mine.  My other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts are here if you’d like to read more inspired by Danielle Carolan, Kate from Lonestar Southern, Carly Heitlinger from Carly the Prepster, and Abigail from Belle of the Ball!  Enjoy!

Dani Austin graduated from the University of Texas a couple years ago and currently pursues her blog,, and 141,200 subscriber YouTube channel, Dani Austin, as a full time job.  She also has a 135,000 follower Instagram, @daniaustin, and 8,400 follower Pinterest, @daniaustin.  She started her YouTube channel in 2012 as a college sophomore under the influence of her brother, YouTube singer Landon Austin, and it’s grown exponentially since then.  Now engaged, Dani has YouTube friends across the country and travels constantly for different events and brand deals.  Her content frequently includes outfits, travel related posts, sales guides, and faith pieces (read her Christian dating advice post here, it’s so good).  She collaborates with tons of companies, including beauty and fashion brands like Smashbox and Nordstrom, regularly.  As she plans her wedding, Dani is constantly sharing updates on dress shopping, sticking to a budget, and premarital counseling with her followers across all of her platforms.  One of the things I definitely love most about Dani is how real she is with her followers.  She’s constantly sharing on her Instagram story, from hauls to “retainer talk,” a little “series” she’s begun where she gets real with her followers from the comfort of her bed, retainer in mouth and all.  Dani’s style is spunky and chic, often experimenting with the latest trends in the girliest hues.

When creating an outfit inspired by Dani Austin, I knew I had to include this lavender bell sleeved sweater because I actually purchased it from Nordstrom after she linked it on her Instagram story (I swear I’m not always that easily influenced, but it was less than $40 and look at those sleeves!).  Since I purchased this sweater fairly recently, I was actually able to link the exact product for y’all, and I think you will love it’s soft material, flattering side cuts, subtle high low detail, fun sleeves, and gorgeous color as much as I do (it also comes in burnt orange, perfect for fall)!  I decided to pair it with a simple denim skirt that actually buttons down the side (same one I wore in my Thanksgiving outfit post, before I cut it!) because wearing a unique spin on a basic trend is not a far reach from Dani’s typical ensembles.  These fun TOMS booties were a no brainer, Dani’s constantly wearing brown booties and I could definitely see her loving the bright pop of color on these (plus the purple matches the sweater)!  Since the shoes and sweater were already pretty loud, I opted for some simpler jewelry including my gold Kate Spade watch, a pair of thin gold hoops, and a white and gold choker from Beads by Syd on Instagram.  I adore this choker for its larger, bubbly white beads and dainty little gold triangle charm.  Plus, it has a toggle closure in the back which makes it so much easier to put on than typical lobster claw clasp chokers.  All of my pieces from Beads by Syd have proven to be amazing quality, so I’d definitely recommend checking her page out!

An Outfit Inspired by Abigail of Belle of the Ball

Unfortunately, due to a ton of weekend travels and busy school weeks I was unable to follow through with several of my monthly series during September.  I really hate that that happened but I have to prioritize school and I hate turning down an adventure!  Anyways, today I’m continuing one of my favorite series, “An Outfit Inspired by…” with a post featuring an outfit inspired by the well known Instagrammer and blogger behind Belle of the Ball (@belleoftheball45 on Instagram); Abigail.  I love coming up with outfits for this series because it’s so neat to realize how many things I have that I could totally see some of my fashion idols wearing.  You can find my other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts here if you’re interested in reading more!  Enjoy!

Abigail is a current sophomore at Mercyhurst University.  Despite her considerably young age, she has a ton of blogging experience under her belt, including working with countless brands like Vineyard Vines, SheIn, and Carolina Clothing Company and even being featured by Teen Vogue.  She’s been blogging since 2014 and I’d say she’s one of the girls who paved the road for teenage fashion bloggers everywhere.  Abigail uses her 60,100 follower Instagram, 8,000 follower Pinterest, and the occasional YouTube video to share her classic, preppy style with the world.  Abigail was without a doubt one of my biggest influences when I began my own blog and I still look up to her style.

(The images above are from the Belle of the Ball blog and belong to Abigail.  Their respective blog posts are linked within the images!)

Abigail styled the most adorable brown corduroy skirt last fall, and at the time I loved it so much I decided to purchase the same one for myself (I still wear it all the time!).  When she styled it again more recently, it occurred to me that this skirt should definitely make it to my outfit inspired by Abigail.  It’s easy to see just by scrolling through Abigail’s Instagram that she loves feminine details as well as layering, so I thought this pale blue button down with a ruffled collar would be perfect to layer under my blue vintage Ralph Lauren sweater.  She also seems to be pretty fond of leopard print right now, so I finished the ensemble with a pair of leopard print flats from J.Crew.  I kept the jewelry pretty simple with a gold monogram necklace, gold Kate Spade watch, and a little gold pave heart cuff from Aqua Kiwi.  The earrings are somewhat hard to see, but they’re just little pearl dangles.  Abigail doesn’t actually have pierced ears and often converts fun styles to clip ons so she can wear them anyways (I know this from watching her Instagram stories haha I’m not creepy I swear)!  I could definitely see her doing that with these classic pearls.

An Outfit Inspired by Carly Heitlinger of Carly the Prepster

Back in June I began a series called “An Outfit Inspired by…” in which I choose a style influencer (such as an actress, blogger, YouTuber, singer, etc.) to tell y’all about and model an outfit after!  I’ve loved this series so far and I think I’m going to try to keep it as a monthly series!  Read my other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts here.  Today I’m sharing a look inspired by Carly Heitlinger, better known as Carly the Prepster!  Enjoy!

Carly began her blog, Carly the Prepster, as a freshman at Georgetown University back in 2008.  Blogging has since become her full time job and now she lives in Connecticut with her dogs Theodore and Hamilton.  She frequents New York City and is often invited by various companies to attend events all over!  She has a verified Instagram, @carly, with over 205,000 followers which has inspired hundreds of “preppy” Instagram accounts since its beginning.  She also has a YouTube (linked here) which she occasionally uses to share vlogs and travel diaries.  Carly was definitely one of the first women to blaze the trail of fashion blogging, especially of the “preppy” sort, and her influence on other fashion bloggers is easily seen.  Carly’s style is definitely classic but she’s not afraid to dip her toes in the waters of tasteful trends.  If you don’t already follow her blog, you need to check it out here.  It’s iconic, and I don’t use that word lightly.

(The images above are from Carly the Prepster blog and belong to Carly Heitlinger.  Their respective blog posts are linked within the images!)

For my look inspired by Carly Heitlinger, I knew I wanted to try styling a silk scarf.  She recently shared a blog post about silk scarves (read it here), and I thought the whole silk scarf looked seemed very Carly, if you know what I mean.  My grandmother brought home a nautical navy silk scarf from Europe for me a few years ago and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to get some use out of it!  Carly is all about the classic “prep” style, so I thought the scarf would pair nicely with a simple navy and white striped long sleeve tee.  I opted for some dark wash pixie cut jeans and nude flats to complete the sleek look.  Carly often wears nice bracelets but rarely wears more than one at a time, so I thought my old statement bracelet from J.Crew would be perfect.  I wore my Kate Spade watch as always and some gold Kate Spade bow stud earrings, because Carly loves Kate Spade and stud earrings.  That’s it!  How do you think I did recreating her look?
