10 Summer Fashion Essentials

Today I’m concluding my series of seasonal fashion essentials post with ten summer fashion essentials.  If you missed the rest, you can find my fall fashion essentials here, my winter fashion essentials here, and my spring fashion essentials here.  I’ve had so much fun rounding up my favorite pieces that I think you need each season and I hope you’ve enjoyed reading these posts!  Just a reminder, each image contains the respective product link, so you can shop any piece you like by clicking on it!  Enjoy!

1. Stylish Sandals

Sandals are definitely my favorite type of shoe to rock during the summer.  There are millions of sandals out there, but my favorite pairs are from Jack Rogers, TargetJ.Crew Factory, and Steve Madden.

2. Pretty Coverups

Coverups are a necessity when going to the pool or beach, and a cute one ensures that you’ll be looking chic in all your post-swim adventures.  My favorite coverups online are from Madewell, J.Crew, and Lilly Pulitzer.

3. Bright Shorts

A simple tee combined with a bright pair of shorts and some sandals makes for an easy and adorable summer outfit.  My favorite places to purchase bright shorts are J.Crew Factory, Old Navy, and Lilly Pulitzer.

4. Sunglasses

I love a good pair of sunnies.  They’re perfect not only to block the harsh sun rays from your eyes, but also to hide your makeupless eyes on the way to and from the beach, pool, or lake.  My favorite pairs online are from Ray-Ban, Kate Spade, and Krewe.

5. Comfortable Tee Shirts

I love to wear big, soft tees with Nike shorts and Chacos during the summer.  This ensemble is perfect to wear on the way to the pool, to a friend’s house, while traveling, or just around your house.  My favorite companies that sell tees that are both cute and comfortable are Jadelynn Brooke, United, and Southern Tide.  You can use my code “FLHS” for 15% off at Jadelynn Brooke here and “apocketfullofprep_15” for 15% off at United here.  My favorite designs from all three brands are shown and linked below.

6. Cute Tanks

The perfect summer tanks and camis can be dressed up with some white jeans and wedges or dressed down with a cute pair of shorts and some sandals.  Tank tops have always been a summer go to for me because the minimal sleeves make me much cooler!  Some of my favorite tanks this season are from J.Crew Factory, LOFT, Forever 21, and H&M.

7. Sundresses

Sundresses are the easiest summer outfits and always make you look super put together. I love wearing them when walking through new cities, out to dinner, and to church services on Sundays.  My favorite places to buy sundresses are H&M, J.Crew, LOFT, and Old Navy.

8. Trendy Chokers

I’m sure you’ve seen plenty of chokers out and about already, they’re all the rage this season!  I love the dainty, classic looking ones, especially the simple gold or velvet options from Francesca’s, DDDBeads, H&M, and Forever 21.  Most chokers online are super cheap, but I also have a code, “faith15”, that you can use for 15% off at DDDBeads!

9. Fun Swimsuits

What’s summer without a few trips to the beach, pool, and/or lake?  You obviously need some cute swimsuits to wear to these fun locations.  My favorites are from Athleta, TargetJ.Crew, and J.Crew Factory.

10. Comfortable Sandals

To pair with your big tees and Nike shorts when you’re lounging around, running errands, or taking a little trip to the pool in the summertime, you need some comfortable sandals that are easy to slip on on the go.  My go to comfortable sandals are from Chaco and Rainbow, but I’ve recently had my eyes on a pair of Birkenstocks.

10 Spring Fashion Essentials

I think there are certain fashion staples everyone should have in their closet each season, which is why today I’m posting my third seasonal fashion essentials post!  I made one for fall (read it here) and winter (read it here), so I thought I would keep this little “series” per say going until I finish with a summer fashion essentials post.  Today I’ve chosen ten clothing, shoes, and jewelry pieces that I wear constantly during the spring and linked a few of my favorites along with some that I’ve had my eyes on.  Each image contains the respective product link, so you can shop any piece you like by clicking on it!  Enjoy!

1. White Jeans

Every girl needs a pair of white jeans to wear in the spring.  They look great with black or navy tops, bright colored tops, printed tops, even white tops.  They help you dress up a basic tee and can match the formality of a nice top like a Lilly Pulitzer Elsa.  My favorite pair of white jeans is this one from Old Navy, but if you’re looking for a more upscale pair, these J.Crew high rise jeans, you can try these Lilly Pulitzer cropped jeans, or these cropped flair jeans from Kate Spade.

2. Simple and Versatile Bracelets

Spring outfits can be super cute, but can always use a little sprucing up with the help of some pretty bracelets.  I love the handmade beaded roll on bracelets from Sashka Co. (the set I have is shown and linked below).  BaubleBar also has some really nice, delicate options including this tortoise cuff.  I have a good amount of Bourbon and Boweties bangles and I love stacking them, especially the pearl “Coco” bangle and the clear crystal “Ida” bangle.

3. Lilly Dresses

Nice dresses are a huge staple in the spring because there are so many events such as weddings, grad parties, Easter, and church services in general.  A lot of my favorite dresses for the spring are from Lilly Pulitzer and I think every girl should have one!  My favorites from Lilly this season include the Mila shift dress in “Multi Sparkling Sands,” the Tana shift dress in “Multi Never Been Betta,” and the white Rika fit & flare dress.

4. Wedges

Wedged sandals are definitely my favorite dress shoe for the spring.  Wedges can easily dress up a basic top with white jeans or a tee shirt dress but also match the formality of a nice dress for a springtime event.  Jack Rogers, Steve Madden, Michael Kors, and Kork-Ease carry some of the cutest summer wedges if you ask me.  I adore espadrilles, lace ups, and simple two strap styles.  Shop my favorites below!

5. Statement Earrings

A fun pair of dangly earrings can add a fun pop to any simple spring outfit.  You really can’t go wrong with any from Kendra Scott or Starfish Project (plus purchasing from Starfish Project supports exploited women, double win!).  I have and love the Kendra Scott Danielle earrings in white pearl (which come in a plethora of other stone colors) as well as this pair with pretty blue stones and gold tassels from Starfish Project.  BaubleBar also has a ton of fun earring options, including this pair of gold hoops with hot pink pom poms which I think is so fun!

6. Stylish Sneakers

In my opinion, one of the best shoes for the transition between winter boots and summer flip flops is a chic pair of tennis shoes.  Styling pretty tennis shoes and sneakers with nice outfits has become super trendy over the past couple of years.  I have this pair of white and gold New Balance for J.Crew 620 sneakers and I wear them constantly.  I also love these cream and light pink New Balance 620 70s sneakers.  I’ve been seeing high top Vans styled in a ton of fun ways lately and although they’re a little out of my comfort zone, I think these light pink canvas high tops are so cute.

7. Light Cardigans

For spring days that have a bit of a wind chill, light and versatile cardigans are oh so necessary.  I typically buy mine at my local Marshalls, but my favorites online are from Gap, J.Crew, and Lilly Pulitzer (although Lilly’s are definitely far more expensive than what I’m willing to spend on a cardigan, how cute is this hot pink one with fringe trimming?).

8. Tee Shirt Dresses

Tee shirt dresses make the easiest spring outfits.  Dress them up with a pair of wedges and a long necklace, or dress them down with a cute pair of sneakers and a simple necklace.  Gap, Target, and Forever 21 all carry cute tee shirt dress options.

cn13272600.png 51958716 00085867-05.png

9. Colored Pants

I know I already mentioned white jeans, but spring is seriously the best time of year to sport your cool, colorful pants.  I have a pair of red jeans (see them in a post here) and I love styling them this time of year, they add a fun pop of color to any otherwise basic outfit!  Mine are from Gap, but tons of other stores including Old NavyJ.Crew, and Target sell fun colored pants.

10. Basic Tees

Simple solid colored tees combined with white jeans and fun sandals make an easy and cute spring outfit.  I wear a lot of basic tees from Old Navy, but I adore all the fun colors that J.Crew carries and this tee from LOFT looks so soft.  I love the lace up detailing on the front of this navy J.Crew Factory tee as well!

10 Winter Fashion Essentials

Now that I’ve experienced the first snow of the year, I feel like winter is in full swing.  I have to say, winter is quite possibly my least favorite season.  After Christmas the holiday cheer vanishes, the short days seem gray-er, and suddenly it’s soo much colder.  However, I do like winter fashion (but is there really a season who’s fashion I don’t like?)  I love to layer my clothing plus I feel like you can get a lot more creative with outfits in the winter than you can in mid-July when you can’t wear so much as a light cardigan over your top without sweating.  My love for winter fashion brings me to today’s post… I’m sharing some of my must have fashion items for winter!  I did a post on my fall fashion essentials back in October, so if you’re looking for more good cold weather pieces you should check that post too if you missed it, it’s linked here.  All the items you see will be linked in the image, so just click on it to shop!

1. Warm Coats

As the temperatures go down, you’ve got to bundle up.  While I love vests (see some of my favorites in my fall essentials post here,) they don’t always get the job done like coats.  Some of my favorite coats are from J.Crew and Old Navy, but while I’ve never had a Barbour jacket I think they’re super classy and versatile.  I’ve also recently been loving the furry coat trend!

2. Hats

To brave the snow, or just super cold mornings, you’ll need something to keep your head warm; a hat!  There are tons of places online to get adorable hats, but my favorites are from FURTALK (on Amazon,) Vineyard Vines, and Jadelynn Brooke.  Plus, if you use my code “FLHS” you can receive 15% off your Jadelynn Brooke purchase!51458vLEYML._SX342_.jpg  2A2685.107.a.zoom.jpg   fall2016_18_of_19.png

3. Pullovers

Pullovers are definitely a key piece of my go to winter outfit.  On days when I’m just not feeling it, I’ll throw on a tee shirt, a pullover, leggings, and my New Balance shoes and call it a day – but what’s great about pullovers is that you can dress them up by layering them over a button down and wearing jeans and flats or bean boots.  My all time favorite pullover is my Southern Shirt Company quarter zip sherpa pullover (I’ve had it for a year, so no, I don’t just like it because sherpas are trendy right now,) but I have also had and loved Vineyard Vines shep shirts and Patagonia fleeces.

4. Weather Appropriate Boots

I’ve tried my best not to mention things I already mentioned in my fall essentials post again, but you really can’t have snow without L.L. Bean Boots or Hunters.  I’ve had my pair of bean boots for about two years now and have found them to be very functional for snow and versatile with most other winter outfits even when it’s not snowing.  I also love the look of Hunter rain boots and the Jack Rogers Sallie Rain boots, although I don’t own a pair of either.

5. Button Down Shirts/Oxfords

Oxfords and other button down shirts are perfect for the cooler months and make for an easy, classy outfit with jeans and flats.  You can also layer and wear them under a sweater or vest!  The options with button downs are endless and you should definitely consider picking up a few.  My favorite places to buy button downs are Ralph Lauren, J.Crew, and Old Navy.

6. Headbands

I’ve always loved headbands (especially after watching Gossip Girl), but for some reason I feel like I wear them more in the winter.  I just love how they look with a button down or a cable knit sweater; super classy and chic!  My favorite headbands are from J.Crew and Gina Made It.

  F7436_EF8564.png         Navy_Wide_Stripe_Headband-540x642.png        B4950_EF7732.png

7. Turtleneck Sweaters

Sweaters alone are great for the winter, but turtlenecks are a total plus because not only do they keep you even warmer, they’re also pretty trendy this season.  My favorite places to buy turtlenecks are Old Navy, J.Crew, and J.Crew Factory.

cn12032782.png f9321_st6484_m   F8740_BL8708.png  F9524_BL8825_m.png

8. Camp Socks

The best, warmest, most stylish socks to wear with your bean boots or just around the house?  Camp socks.  I’m pretty sure the “original” camp socks are from J.Crew, but plenty of other brands such as L.L. Bean and American Eagle sell equally as nice camp socks.

F6919_EF8777.png  img-thing.png  0425_8190_700_f.png

9. Leggings

In the winter, I like everything oversized and comfy, which means wearing leggings as a pant underneath a big sweatshirt or a long top is not rare.  Leggings are definitely an essential during the colder months and my favorite pair is from Gap.  While I don’t own any from Lululemon or Victaria’s Secret PINK, I’ve heard great things about them as well.

Screen Shot 2017-01-10 at 11.29.56 PM.png     lw5abvs_0001_1    V598138_CROP4.png

10. Stylish Sweatshirts

While your school soccer team hoodie will fill the role of keeping you cozy and warm, honestly it’s not that cute and you know it.  To make your warm and comfy go to outfit a little cuter, trade in your team hoodie for a cute Jadelynn Brooke or United sweatshirt!  A couple of my favorites are shown and linked below.  Don’t forget you can receive 15% off of any Jadelynn Brooke purchase using my code “FLHS” and 15% off of any United purchase using my code “apocketfullofprep_15”!

10 Fall Fashion Essentials

It finally feels like fall!  I must admit, as much as I love summer, fall is definitely my favorite season.  Aside from colorful leaves, warm scented candles, Thanksgiving, and hot chocolate, the biggest reason for my adoration of autumn is fall fashion.  Today I’m sharing some of my must have items for this season!  All the items you see will be linked in the image, so just click on it to shop!

1. Vests

The most fashionable and versatile outerwear?  Vests.  There are so many types of vests and they look so cute over nice tops (like Lilly Pulitzer Elsas,) oxfords, flannels, or even tee shirts!  Some of my favorites are from J.Crew, PatagoniaJ.Crew Factory, and online boutiques like The Loft.

92465_bl8133  3719442_fpx-tif     25216_elkh

2. Rain/Snow Boots

Even if you don’t live in place where you get enough rain or snow to really need a pair, you should consider investing in a nice pair of rain and/or snow boots.  My personal favorites are bean boots from L.L. Bean; they make a perfect comfy go to outfit with leggings and a sweater even when there’s no precipitation.  I also really like the glossy Hunter rain boots, although I don’t personally have a pair.

3. Statement Necklaces

If you’re like me and wear a ton of button down shirts (like oxfords or flannels) or solid colored pieces (like swing dresses, piko tops, or sweaters,) then you should look into purchasing some statement necklaces.  Statement necklaces are the perfect way to spruce up any plain outfit.  My favorite places to buy statement necklaces are J.Crew, Francesca’s, and J.Crew Factory.

4. Sweaters

There’s nothing quite as good on a cold fall morning as putting on a warm, soft sweater.  Sweaters make an easy outfit with jeans or leggings and boots, booties or flats.  Plus, you can always layer sweaters over flannels or oxfords for a more put together looking and warm outfit.  I personally love the sweaters from Gap, Ralph Lauren, and Forever 21.

cn11773817.png s7-1226520_lifestyle.png  00221923-03.png

5. Booties

Booties have been trending over the past couple years and I have definitely jumped on that bandwagon.  I have a pair of taupe colored wedged booties from TOMS (shown below on the left) and I love them!  They look adorable with rolled up jeans, a flowy top, and a scarf.  I also love the Bailee Suede Booties from Jack Rogers.

6. Flannels

This one’s pretty obvious, fall fashion without flannels is like the fall season without colorful leaves!  Flannels can be styled in endless ways; buttoned up with jeans and booties, unbuttoned over a plain tee with jeans and converses, tied around your waist over a tee with some leggings and bean boots, and that’s just a start!  My favorite places to buy flannels are J.Crew Factory and American Eagle.

03411_WO7290.png  1354_7201_200_f.png

7. Scarves

While blanket scarves have gotten pretty big over the past couple years, there are plenty of other fashionable (and warm!) scarves out there.  A few of my favorite scarves are from Vera BradleyG.H. Bass & Co., and Target.

14640344.png   0590-8701_05908701c07h.png    51108292-2

8. Flats

Flats are the perfect shoe for when it’s too warm to wear boots but too cold to wear sandals (or it’s just too late in the year to wear sandals.)  I love the chic and professional vibe they add to a simple top with some jeans!  I usually buy my flats from Steve Madden, but I’ve had my eyes on these Tory Burch flats for years.

9. Long Sleeve Tees

To go with those bean boots and Patagonia vests previously mentioned, you need some long sleeve tees for the perfect cozy go-to outfit.  My absolute favorite tees come from Jadelynn Brooke.  Their tees are crazy soft and come in the cutest designs and colors!  Plus, you can get 15% off your entire purchase at Jadelynn Brooke using my code “FLHS” (in all caps!)  A couple of my favorite Jadelynn Brooke tees are shown below.

life_is_darling_large  rufflelogoback2_large.png

10. Riding Boots

Riding boots have been a fall must have for as long as I can remember.  They go with jeans and a nice top, leggings and a tee, dresses, and so much more.  I have always personally preferred brown riding boots, but black is another great option!  Steve Madden has a great selection of riding style boots, but I also adore the riding boots from Tory Burch and Frye Company.
