Back to School Lookbook 2018

One of my favorite (and most consistent) posts to write since I began blogging is the back to school lookbook.  It’s seriously so wild to see how the time has flown; the first time I wrote this post I was about to be a freshman and I start senior year next week!  See my back to school lookbooks of years past here, here, and here, it’s crazy to see how my style has evolved!  I’ve always loved sharing these fun looks that can easily be recreated because I know firsthand that it can be hard to come up with fresh outfits for the new school year.  This is my second post in this year’s Back to School series, be sure to check out my last post (and all of my Back to School posts from previous years) here.  Let’s get into the post!

A Tank and a Cardigan

If you’re looking for a cute but casual look this back to school season and you live somewhere that you wouldn’t be absolutely miserable in a cardigan right now (or your school is just always cold), this one is for you!  Add a light cardigan like this fun off-white one from Old Navy (currently on sale and under $40 – my favorite cardigan I’ve ever owned!) to a fun but not dress code tank with some layered jewelry, jeans, and sandals for a put together late summer look.

White with Denim

This look is slightly more dressed up and is extremely similar to what I’m planning on wearing to school the first day of my senior year!  I love embroidered white tops like this one because they’re super versatile but the embroidered details make them girly and fun.  Pair it with a denim skirt and a pair of sandals for a nice and simple ensemble.  If you want to spice it up, add some fun jewelry like this colorful Beadz by Reese choker!

Casual with Stripes and Rips

Last but not least, this look is easy to throw on, comfortable, but also stylish!  A basic tee – whether it be crewneck or v-neck, solid or striped – a pair of ripped jeans (regardless of color as long as they don’t clash with the shirt!), and Birkenstocks make for an easy go-to outfit for this back to school season.  Accessorize with some fun earrings or a long necklace to take the look from basic to chic.  Transition this look into fall and even winter by adding a cardigan or jean jacket and trading out the sandals for a pair of slip on sneakers!

Thanks for reading!  I hope these ensembles have given you some inspiration for your own back to school looks!

Back to School Lookbook 2017

It’s crazy to think that I put together my first “Back to School Lookbook” post two years ago, yet here I am sharing another one today!  This one is always my favorite Back to School post to write each year, even though creating it usually requires me spending hours outside in the 80-90 (if not higher) degree heat taking pictures while wearing jeans.  If you’re interested in reading my last two “Back to School Lookbook” posts, you can find them here and here.  Now, enough with that sentimental blip, let’s get on with the post!

Showing off new clothing pieces is without a doubt one of my favorite parts of going back to school.  However, I often struggle with styling my new clothes in a way that I would deem “first week worthy.”  Hopefully the three looks in today’s post will help you find fun, creative ways to style the new pieces you’ve picked up this summer and rethink the way you style some of the basic closet staples you’ve been working with for years.  This is the second post in this year’s Back to School series, so be sure to check out my last Back to School themed post, “10 Things I Wish I Realized Before Sophomore Year of High School,” here if you haven’t already.  Okay okay, let’s look at these outfits already!

Comfortable and Casual

This look is probably the most basic of the three I’m sharing today.  I styled a simple, soft striped tank with a tan cardigan, rolled up jeans, and a trendy pair of Nikes for a comfortable yet trendy look.  I accessorized with a few simple bracelets, my Kate Spade watch, Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, and a pearl necklace layered with a choker.  I adore this fun turquoise, rose gold, and white braided choker from Beach Bum Beads!  They’re an Instagram business, so you can check out their Instagram @beachbumbeads here and place an order with them through direct message.  This look would be super easy to recreate; layer a soft, comfy cardigan over a simple top with some jeans and sneakers (Converse, New Balances, Adidas Superstars, and Vans would all look great, just to name a few!).

top (similar) // cardigan (similar) // jeans // sneakers // choker (direct message the Instagram account linked to order and let them know I sent you!) // three pearl necklace // earrings // beaded bracelets (here and here) // MantraBand // Giving Key bangle // cross bracelet (similar) // watch (similar) // ring

A Light Sweater and A Denim Skirt

If you read my “Trend Tracking” post on denim skirts (linked here), you already know that I love them.  I love this maroon one because it sticks to the trend but the color makes it a little more unique.  I wore it with a light v-neck sweater from H&M half tucked in along with my favorite pair of faux leather lace up sandals from Target.  I accessorized the look with some simple white and gold bracelets, a gold Kate Spade watch, thin gold hoop earrings, and a green beaded choker from Gia Designs.  I love this choker and definitely recommend checking Gia Designs out here for more nice looking yet inexpensive jewelry pieces.  Gia Designs is another Instagram business, so you can check out their Instagram @gia.designs here and place an order with them through direct message.  This look can be recreated with any denim skirt, a light sweater (you don’t want anything too thick yet, it’s still pretty hot out!), and a pair of lace up sandals.

An Unbuttoned Button Down Over A Simple Dress

Honestly I think this outfit has to be my favorite, it’s so simple and cute!  You could easily recreate this look yourself by throwing an unbuttoned flannel, oxford, or chambray button down (like the one I’m wearing) over a simple solid colored dress.  I’m wearing a plain black tank dress from Old Navy (that I must mention is so soft) with super flattering loose peplum-esque stitching a little above the waistline.  I paired that dress with an open chambray button down (also from Old Navy) and classic gold Jack Rogers sandals for an easy yet put together look.  I accessorized with a gold Kate Spade watch, some simple white and gold bracelets, Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, and a Kendra Scott Elisa pendant necklace layered with a fun turquoise bar necklace from Lexas Chic Boutique.  Lexas Chic Boutique has a ton of fun jewelry pieces, be sure to check them out here and use my code “FAITH15” for 15% off your purchase!

Fourth of July Lookbook 2017

With July Fourth just a few days away, I know I’m raiding my (and my little sister’s) closet for the perfect patriotic ensemble.  Maybe this is a “me problem,” but I own next to no red clothing.  For that reason, Fourth of July looks are a lot easier said than done for me.  Today I’ve put together three red, white, and blue looks with pieces I realized I already had in my closet, and I bet you already have a few of these items too!  Hopefully these looks will inspire you as you put together your own Fourth of July outfit!  Enjoy!

A Red Sweater and Pinstripe Shorts

My grandmother recently sent me this red ribbed Ralph Lauren sweater that my mom wore in high school back in the 80s and I think it’s so classic!  I paired it with some white and blue pinstripe shorts from Old Navy (which honestly might be grey and white but they look blue enough to me!), gold Jack Rogers sandals, and simple white and gold jewelry for an easy and patriotic look.  This ensemble is perfect just to wear around on the Fourth, whether you’re spending the day boating, going to see fireworks, or hanging out with friends.

A Striped Tee and Red Jeans

Processed with VSCO with c6 preset

This has to be my favorite outfit in the lookbook!  I love this simple navy and white striped tee from Old Navy, it’s super soft and versatile but was also super cheap!  I wore it with a pair of red cropped jeans and brown lace up sandals and accessorized with my basic everyday bracelets and Kendra Scott necklace, my ivory pearl Kendra Scott Danielle earrings, and a red beaded bracelet that my stepmom gave me a month or two ago.  I think this look would be perfect for a Fourth of July barbecue with family and friends or any other casual holiday get-together!

An Embroidered Dress and Gold Sandals

This last look is definitely the dressier of the three.  I’m wearing a darling navy blue dress from Old Navy with the prettiest red floral embroidery on top and gold Jack Rogers sandals.  To accessorize, I wore Kendra Scott ivory pearl Elisa necklace and matching Danielle earrings, my Kate Spade watch, a dainty rose gold ring, a gold MantraBand, my Giving Key bangle, and a couple white and gold Sashka Co. bracelets.  This look is perfect for a patriotic party or really any Fourth of July event that you feel like getting a little more dressed up for!

Valentine’s Day Lookbook 2017

With Valentine’s Day tomorrow, I know plenty of people are still scrambling to find the perfect outfit ensemble for their date or night out with friends.  Today I’m sharing a Valentine’s Day lookbook that will hopefully give you some outfit inspiration!  While I don’t have any date-related plans for the love filled holiday, I think Valentine’s Day should be a day spent celebrating with all of those whom you love, including your friends and family.  I love coming up with Valentine’s Day outfits because it’s the perfect excuse to wear a ton of pink, which, in case you couldn’t tell, is my favorite color.  Without further adieu, let’s get into the lookbook!

A Cardigan Over a Pink Tank

The first look is super simple and casual, great for school on Valentine’s Day or a casual date.  I love this fun, lacy, pink tank layered underneath a basic cardigan.  I finished off the look with my favorite jeans, a pair of nude flats, and some gold jewelry.  (Sorry the tank is so wrinkled, I was running out of daylight and didn’t have time to iron it!  You’ll probably notice that the scarf in the next look is wrinkled too and that’s for the same reason).

tank (similar) // cardigan (similar) // jeans // flats // monogram necklace // crystal bangle (similar) // spade bangle (similar) // earrings // watch (similar) // ring

A Pop of Pink in a Scarf

I purchased this adorable corduroy skirt from Banana Republic Factory in the fall and I’m obsessed with it.  In this outfit I styled it with a plain white sweater and a bright pink patterned scarf to add a pop of color (what’s a Valentine’s Day outfit without some pink?).  I wore my new favorite booties (under $50!) and added some cute Kate Spade bow earrings and my gold monogram necklace to complete the look.  This look is a little less casual than the last and I could totally see myself wearing it out to dinner downtown with my friends.

sweater (sweater linked is only available in select sizes; super similar still available in most sizes linked here) // skirt (no longer available in the color shown) // booties // scarf (similar) // monogram necklace // earrings (similar) // ring

A Polka-Dotted Skirt and A Pink Turtleneck

Pink and polka-dots go together link peanut butter and jelly, so this outfit is easily my favorite in the lookbook!  I styled a basic hot pink turtleneck sweater with a black and white polka-dotted skirt and my favorite Kate Spade heels.  As for jewelry, I wore my pearl Danielle earrings from Kendra Scott, my Kate Spade watch, and some simple Bourbon and Boweties bangles.  This look is definitely the most formal of the three and I think it would be perfect for a date!

Holiday Lookbook 2016

I’m so happy to share the third post of my Christmas blog post series!  One of my favorite things about the holiday season is getting to dress up for parties and other special events throughout the month of December.  Today I’ve picked four of my favorite festive looks to inspire your holiday party attire!  These outfits are ordered from most casual first to most formal last.  Hopefully you can find some inspiration whether you’re looking for an outfit to wear to one of your friend’s casual White Elephant parties or your formal family get together on Christmas Eve.  If you haven’t already seen the last two posts from my Christmas blog series this year, be sure to check them out here!  Enjoy!

A Poncho With A Pop of Gingham

Perfect for a casual Christmas day lunch with your extended family, this outfit keeps you warm and fashionable.  This poncho feels like wearing a blanket and I love the way it looks over a patterned top like this gingham button down!  Complete the look with jeans and bean boots, riding boots, or booties for a simple, chic look fit for any casual holiday gathering.

A Tassel and A Piko

A simple and flattering piko top paired with a fun necklace makes for an easy yet adorable holiday outfit for a friend’s party or any other casual gathering.  I absolutely love this necklace from The Tiny Tassel; the fun multicolored metallic tassel is super festive!  Check out The Tiny Tassel here.  Wear this combo with jeans or leggings and booties or riding boots.

A Simple Dress, A Big Coat, and Over the Knee Boots

Big coats and over the knee boots are two of my favorite current trends!  Wear a nicer, slightly oversized coat over a simple dress and over the knee boots for a trendy outfit for a slightly more formal occasion such as a night downtown or a family dinner.  Add a simple yet fun necklace like this one from Starfish Project to spruce up the simple outfit.  I seriously love this necklace and the fact that Starfish Project supports women and girls escaping human trafficking and exploitation, what a great cause (read more of their story here!).  Check out Starfish Project’s website for more gorgeous jewelry here.

A Turtleneck and A Paper Bag Skirt

The final look I’m sharing is a simple and classic outfit I think would be perfect for a Christmas Eve church service or another formal gathering!  I paired a plain black turtleneck sweater with a paper bag skirt and some fun bow heels.  I love the little gold buttons on the sleeves of the sweater and I added a few other coordinating gold accent pieces including a monogram necklace, my watch, and a statement bracelet.

Back to School Collab: Back To School Lookbook 2016

Today I’ve put together a few looks that follow most school dress codes for a back to school lookbook!  My favorite part of going back to school is coming up with some cute outfits composed of pieces I’ve picked up over the summer, so I love writing these posts!  This is actually the second back to school lookbook I’ve created, so be sure to check out last year’s here for more outfit inspiration!  This post is also the second in my Back to School series this year, so if you didn’t read the last post in the series, “My Advice for High School Freshmen,” you should definitely go check it out here.  Many of the tips apply to most middle and high school students, so you could probably get something out of it even if you aren’t a rising freshman.  On another note, this post is a back to school collaboration with a really sweet friend of mine I’ve met through blogging; Fiona of Preppy NYC!  Today Fiona is posting a backpack guide, so be sure to check her post out too, it’s linked here!  Without further adieu, let’s get into the lookbook!

Plain in Periwinkle

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

The first outfit is super simple and comfortable, plus this soft v-neck from Forever 21 is less than five dollars!  I dressed the tee up a bit with gold Jack Rogers sandals, my favorite Kendra Scott necklace, and a couple bracelets.  This outfit could easily transition into cooler weather by adding a cardigan and trading the sandals out for a pair of Converse.

Pink, White, and Gold

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

Light pink has to be one of my favorite colors and I love the way it looks on this top over the white jeans in this outfit!  I think this gorgeous necklace from Boho Belle Jewelry adds a bit of a boho vibe to the outfit and even though that’s a bit different for me I think it looks really nice.  I personally love the double wrap necklace trend and this necklace is definitely one of my favorites that I’ve seen so far.  Be sure to check out Boho Belle Jewelry here for more pretty, trendy jewelry!

I’ve recently discovered I have a bit of a fetish for embroidered white tops, and this shirt definitely falls under that category.  I love the simplicity and versatility of the color white but also the cute details of the cutouts and embroidery!  I paired the white top with a pair of bright red jeans to add a pop of color along with a starfish bracelet with coordinating red beading.
