Girl on a Mission

Hopefully by now you know that I’m a Jadelynn Brooke high school ambassador, as I’m currently spending my fourth semester repping the brand (read the “My Experience as a Jadelynn Brooke High School Ambassador 2016-2017” post here!).  I absolutely love working with Jadelynn Brooke; their insanely personal customer service, inspirational designs, hilarious Instagram, and adorable family foundation remind me daily that these three sisters are seriously the coolest and sweetest business owners of all time.  Each year, Jade, Lexi Lynn, and Brooke choose a theme.  Past years have included themes “Live Every Day Like it’s Your Birthday” and “Live Out Your Bucket List,” but this year’s theme, “Girl on a Mission,” has to be my favorite yet.  Today I’m sharing an outfit featuring this year’s adorable theme tee as well as a little explanation of what “Girl on a Mission” means to me!  Enjoy!

When I began pulling items from my closet to style with this adorable grey v-neck tee, I knew I wanted to incorporate lots of funky gold pieces.  I think my gold high top Converse sneakers and gold Madewell drop earrings fit this role pretty well!  I decided to pair the fun tee with a basic pair of jeans to keep it casual (although I think it’d be so cute with white jeans in the spring!).  Some of my favorite details on the tee include the pretty calligraphy font in pastel colors used in the front design, the word “happiness” printed along the sleeve, and the Jadelynn Brooke logo on the back of the neck.  Use my code “FLHS” for 15% off your Jadelynn Brooke purchase!

As a naturally fast walker, my friends often joke as they try to keep up me with in the school hallways, “Faith you’re walking like a girl on a mission.”  To be quite honest I always wonder how else I’d walk.  If you aren’t a girl on a mission, what are you doing?  This walking with a purpose is very metaphorical for real life; every step you take should be fast paced and with a legitimate goal.  To me, being a girl on a mission means striving for success and working hard in everything you do.  I would most definitely consider myself to be a girl on a mission.  My mission is to radiate God’s love, empower others, and earn success all while having fun and making memories.  I adore the fact that Jadelynn Brooke chose this term as a theme this year.  The brand’s choice to focus their whole year on this reminder that girls should aim for bigger and better things and pursue their dreams nonstop is something to be commended.  I know their promotion of this phrase will change someone’s life and I couldn’t be more excited about it.

A Pompom Pop of Color

Winter’s fun and all for a month or so, but at this point (only five days from spring!) I’m just so ready for warm weather!  One of the things I hate the most about winter is the unnecessary restrictions it puts on style, such as the apparent need for absence of color.  Why is it that every piece of apparel that we buy in a bright color this time of year should be saved for spring?  Today I’m bringing some color to my winter wardrobe with a fun pompom necklace from Down to Earth!  I’m so excited to be sharing my styling of this adorable necklace for y’all today but I’m even more excited to share a 25% discount code for Down to Earth’s website, “FAITH25”!  I know y’all will love their jewelry as much as I do, be sure to check out their site!  Without further adieu, let’s get on with the outfit!

I recently picked up the cutest (and softest) white top with flared sleeves ending with ruffles.  The best part of this top isn’t that it’s adorable or that it actually feels like wearing a sweatshirt (yes, it’s that soft!), but that I got it on sale at Banana Republic for $11.  I think this top is perfect to pair with such a bright necklace, given its subdued white color and accent sleeves.  Sadly, the top is out of stock online, but I linked a similar style below!  I wore some plain jeans and taupe suede booties to balance out the bright tones of the fun Down to Earth pompom necklace.  Aside from the bright necklace, I kept the rest of my jewelry pretty simple with a blue Sashka Co. bracelet, my gold “She Believed She Could So She Did” MantraBand, a silver cross cuff bracelet, delicate gold hoop earrings, a gold Kate Spade watch, and my everyday gold and rose gold rings.

The Jean Jacket is Back

As winter comes to an end and the spring solstice begins, one trendy transition piece that I’m sure will make several appearances is my jean jacket.  While once an item I’d sworn would be left behind when I quit wearing Justice clothes in the fifth grade, I wished for a new jean jacket for months before picking this one up.  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to style it for this awkward transition between freezing winter days and approaching spring weather!  Enjoy!

One thing that hasn’t quite grown on me yet is denim on denim, so I decided to style my jean jacket with a fun pair of green ripped jeans.  As for a top, I opted for one of my all time favorite v-neck tees from J.Crew that has a little gold shimmer to it.  I love the way gold jewelry makes the shirt’s shimmery undertones pop, so I went for all gold jewelry, including my new Grace Elizabeth gold coin necklace!  I love this necklace because it’s so dainty and simple that it will match practically anything!  Use the code “Springbreak18” for 20% off this necklace now through Saturday!  Since it has been a little warmer here recently, I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to pull out my favorite brown lace up sandals from Target!  These shoes have lasted me three years and I couldn’t recommend them more, especially considering they’re under $25!  I seriously love this look for this time of year and I hope you do too!

Grey & Green

I don’t know about you, but my default outfit in the winter months always includes a sweater.  When shopping in the winter, I always gravitate towards sweaters rather than regular long sleeve shirts and finding a sweater that’s unique is always a treat.  Today I’m sharing an outfit featuring a ruffle sleeve sweater (which actually belongs to my little sister oops) I’ve been absolutely loving lately!  Enjoy!

If I’m willing to go to the trouble of frequently begging my little sister to let me borrow an article of clothing, there must be something special about it.  This sweater is not only adorable, but it’s quite possibly the softest thing I’ve ever worn.  I love the ruffle detailing, especially because it continues down the side hem of the sweater!  The grey color is also one of my favorites this season, so simple and versatile!  To add a pop of color to the look, I wore a pair of green ripped jeans.  I’ve been obsessed with these brown UGG slip on sneakers lately and I love the way they look with this ensemble!  I accessorized the look with a dainty pair of gold hoop earrings, my everyday gold and rose gold rings, my gold Kate Spade watch, a gold MantraBand, my silver cross cuff bracelet, and a gold asymmetrical initial necklace from Anthropologie (which I’m seriously obsessed with, buy it here!).

An Outfit Inspired by Morgan Yates

February’s installment in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series is finally here!  In this series, I share a little about an influencer (whether that be a celebrity, blogger, YouTuber, or TV show character) that I love along with an outfit I’ve created with pieces from my own closet that mimics their personal style!  Click here to read my previous “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts!  In today’s installment I’m sharing an outfit inspired by another one of my favorite YouTubers, Morgan Yates.  Enjoy!

A 2017 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Morgan Yates has moved to Los Angeles and is taking the influencer industry by storm.  Morgan’s seven year old YouTube channel has over 265,000 subscribers and her corresponding Instagram has 35,400 followers.  Morgan’s relatable and hilarious personality, frequent travels, chic style, and college advice keep me coming back to her channel all the time.  I would describe Morgan’s style as edgy, trendy, and minimalist.  She frequently posts in black and white outfits, graphic tees, ripped jeans (especially black ones), cool sneakers, dainty gold jewelry, and spunky leather and denim jackets.

I recently purchased this fun black balloon sleeve sweater from ASOS, and I think the accent sleeves and triangular cutout in the back are totally something Morgan would wear.  Sticking to her often dark color pallet, I decided to wear grey jeans instead of blue ones.  Morgan loves trying out trends (and to be honest these grey jeans are a little bit big on my waist), so I thought my Gucci belt dupe (shop it here, only $15!) would be a great way to accessorize the look.  Inspired by her love for comfy and chic sneakers, I chose to wear my plain black Vans.  The spunky gold star earrings have been a personal favorite of mine lately but I could definitely see Morgan wearing them too!  The simplicity of the gold initial necklace as well as my everyday gold and rose gold rings also seem very fitting of Morgan’s style.

Thanks for reading!  How do you think I did imitating Morgan Yates’ style?  Who would you like to see an outfit inspired by next?

Wrapped Up in Velvet & Tied with a Bow Collab

Hey y’all, happy Friday!  I’m thrilled to share this look with y’all today, it’s definitely been one of my favorite outfits this season.  I purchased the skirt I’m styling in this post on sale after seeing it in one of my blogging friends’, Julia of Sunshinestatejulia, Instagram stories and now that we both have it we thought it’d be fun to do a collaboration with it!  I can’t wait to see how Julia styles the skirt, be sure to check out her post here!  Enjoy!

The skirt that I’ve been raving over is an adorable blue crushed velvet wrap skirt.  I’ve been loving the velvet trend recently and I think the fact that this skirt ties with a bow on the side is just the best!  Plus, it’s less than $20 right now, get one for yourself here before they’re gone!  I opted for a simple grey v-neck sweater on top since the skirt already makes a statement.  I personally struggle with v-necks often, finding them uncomfortably low, but this Banana Republic sweater’s neckline is just right if you ask me!  I recently picked up these Sam Edelman black over the knee boots half off from Nordstrom and I just can’t get over how nice they look with this outfit!  As far as jewelry, I kept it simple with some fun and elegant gold pieces.  My everyday rings and Kate Spade watch were an obvious must but a few of my recent favorites also made an appearance.  I’m obsessed with these pearl hoop earrings, asymmetrical initial necklace, and winking eyes cuff bracelet.
