An Outfit Inspired by Brooke Miccio

Today’s outfit post is another installment in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series!  This look mimics the style of one of my favorite YouTubers, Brooke Miccio.  In case you’re new to this series, in these posts I tell y’all about one of my favorite influencers then share an outfit I created inspired by them.  If you’re interested in reading some of my previous posts in this series, you can find them here.  Without further adieu, let’s get on with an outfit inspired by Brooke Miccio!

Brooke Miccio is currently a sophomore in college studying business at the University of Georgia but is originally from New York.  She’s had her YouTube channel, Brooke Miccio (formerly BrookexBeauty), since high school and over the past few years it’s blossomed into a 152,500 subscriber name that has given her lot of opportunities.  She also has a 42,000 follower Instagram, @brookemiccio where she frequently posts photos of her outfits and travels, as well as a 12,500 follower Pinterest, @brookemicc.  Her content frequently includes fashion, lifestyle, college, and travel videos as well as vlogs.  Brooke loves to travel and has taken several trips to Los Angeles, the Caribbean, and Europe.  She’s close friends with Danielle Carolan, another popular fashion and lifestyle YouTuber who attends the University of Georgia (I styled an outfit inspired by Danielle too, check it out here!).  Brooke’s style is trendy and minimalist, typically including lots of neutrals and chic jewelry.

In my attempt to imitate Brooke’s style, I chose to create an athleisure look, similar to outfits Brooke wears to class or to the airport.  She’s no stranger to ripped jeans, so I borrowed a pair my younger sister recently ripped to achieve the trendy, edgy look.  I recently purchased this grey lace-up sweatshirt from Old Navy, which I could totally see Brooke wearing, so I paired it with the ripped jeans.  Brooke, like me, adores her trendy and chic sneakers, so I opted for my white and gold New Balance for J.Crew sneakers.  As for jewelry, I chose a simple gold choker from KyzBeadz to match the shoes (plus I think Brooke has a gold choker like this one!).  I love all my KyzBeadz jewelry and I’d recommend checking Kylee’s Etsy shop out for more fun and trendy jewels!  The long and comfy sweatshirt sleeves cover my wrists and Brooke’s ears aren’t pierced, so I decided to leave my jewelry there.  Enjoy!

A Tee Shirt Dress & A Double Wrap

A few years ago we were introduced to the ultimate combination of comfort and versatility: the tee shirt dress.  Tee shirt dresses can be found just about anywhere at this point and are so fun to dress up or down!  Today I’m sharing one of my favorite ways to style tee shirt dresses for fall.  Enjoy!

I picked up this comfy grey tee shirt dress at a boutique while on vacation a couple years ago and I’ve loved wearing it ever since.  This dress actually laces up in the back, making it the perfect blend of two of the biggest current trends.  To keep warm, I topped the dress off with an army green utility jacket.  This pair of booties has definitely become one of most worn this fall, the taupe color matches everything!  I added a fun touch to the basic outfit with a trendy jewelry set from High Strung Jewels, including a black double wrap necklace with turquoise tusk charms and a matching black beaded bracelet with a little turquoise skull charm.  I love High Strung Jewels’ selection of jewelry and art and I’d definitely recommend checking the Etsy shop out here!  I layered that black and turquoise bracelet with a few gold and white bracelets from Sashka Co. to match the gold hoops, rings, MantraBand, and watch I wore with the ensemble.

A Long Cardigan

Y’all know better than anyone that I love jumping on trends and trying out new, funky items of clothing.  I’ve loved the big, cozy oversized cardigan look but didn’t have any, so I asked my stepmother if she had any she’d be willing to pass down to me.  What she handed to me definitely fit what I said but wasn’t quite what I had in mind…when I said “oversized” I meant about mid-thigh, but the two Old Navy cardigans she gave me come down past my knees.  I was determined to style the cardigans but it took me a couple months to figure out how.  Today I’m sharing my new favorite way to style my long grey cardigan.  Enjoy!

To offset the extensive length of the cardigan, I wore a somewhat short maroon button down skirt.  I brought a little white into the look, to prevent it from looking too dark, with one of my favorite embroidered tops from Loft.  I love adding a little pop of color, so I decided to wear this yellow beaded choker from KyzBeadz.  I love all of KyzBeadz’s products and would definitely recommend checking the shop out for more fun and trendy jewelry!  I saw the simple top as a canvas for longer jewelry, so I thought this simple, gold, vertical bar necklace from Aqua Kiwi would complete the look.  I coordinated the rest of my jewelry to this necklace and choker pair by keeping it all gold, including some Sashka Co. bracelets, my MantraBand, gold hoop earrings, and my watch.  Finally, I tied the pop of color back into the ensemble with my favorite multi textile TOMS booties.  What do you think, did I manage to pull off the long cardigan?

An Outfit Inspired by Dani Austin

Long time, no installments in any of my fashion-related series!  Today I’m excited to share a new post in my “An Outfit Inspired by…” series featuring an outfit inspired by the Texan YouTuber and blogger behind Dani Austin (Dani Austin herself, ha!).  It’s so fun to experiment with different pieces in my closet until I create a look that truly reminds me of these influencers, so this series is definitely a favorite of mine.  My other “An Outfit Inspired by…” posts are here if you’d like to read more inspired by Danielle Carolan, Kate from Lonestar Southern, Carly Heitlinger from Carly the Prepster, and Abigail from Belle of the Ball!  Enjoy!

Dani Austin graduated from the University of Texas a couple years ago and currently pursues her blog,, and 141,200 subscriber YouTube channel, Dani Austin, as a full time job.  She also has a 135,000 follower Instagram, @daniaustin, and 8,400 follower Pinterest, @daniaustin.  She started her YouTube channel in 2012 as a college sophomore under the influence of her brother, YouTube singer Landon Austin, and it’s grown exponentially since then.  Now engaged, Dani has YouTube friends across the country and travels constantly for different events and brand deals.  Her content frequently includes outfits, travel related posts, sales guides, and faith pieces (read her Christian dating advice post here, it’s so good).  She collaborates with tons of companies, including beauty and fashion brands like Smashbox and Nordstrom, regularly.  As she plans her wedding, Dani is constantly sharing updates on dress shopping, sticking to a budget, and premarital counseling with her followers across all of her platforms.  One of the things I definitely love most about Dani is how real she is with her followers.  She’s constantly sharing on her Instagram story, from hauls to “retainer talk,” a little “series” she’s begun where she gets real with her followers from the comfort of her bed, retainer in mouth and all.  Dani’s style is funky and chic, often experimenting with the latest trends in the girliest hues.

(The images above are from the Dani Austin blog and belong to Dani.  Their respective blog posts are linked within the images!)

When creating an outfit inspired by Dani Austin, I knew I had to include this lavender bell sleeved sweater because I actually purchased it from Nordstrom after she linked it on her Instagram story (I swear I’m not always that easily influenced, but it was less than $40 and look at those sleeves!).  Since I purchased this sweater fairly recently, I was actually able to link the exact product for y’all, and I think you will love it’s soft material, flattering side cuts, subtle high low detail, fun sleeves, and gorgeous color as much as I do (it also comes in burnt orange, perfect for fall)!  I decided to pair it with a simple denim skirt that actually buttons down the side (same one I wore in my Thanksgiving outfit post, before I cut it!) because wearing a unique spin on a basic trend is not a far reach from Dani’s typical ensembles.  These fun TOMS booties were a no brainer, Dani’s constantly wearing brown booties and I could definitely see her loving the bright pop of color on these (plus the purple matches the sweater)!  Since the shoes and sweater were already pretty loud, I opted for some simpler jewelry including my gold Kate Spade watch, a pair of thin gold hoops, and a white and gold choker from Beads by Syd on Instagram.  I adore this choker for its larger, bubbly white beads and dainty little gold triangle charm.  Plus, it has a toggle closure in the back which makes it so much easier to put on than typical lobster claw clasp chokers.  All of my pieces from Beads by Syd have proven to be amazing quality, so I’d definitely recommend checking her page out!

How to Style a Herringbone Vest Collab

I first saw J.Crew’s herringbone vest back in 2014 and I’ve wanted one ever since.  Recently, it went on sale for under $40.00 (as opposed to its original $89.00 price on the J.Crew Factory site) and I knew I just had to get it.  I’ve loved styling it ever since and today I’m collaborating with my friend Cayleigh from CNPrepster to share our favorite ways to wear the vest!  I adore Cayleigh’s blog, so be sure to check it out and read her post here.  Enjoy!

As my style has evolved since seeing the herringbone vest for the first time, my vision for an outfit including it shifted from layering it over a Ralph Lauren button down with jeans and ballet flats to what I’m wearing in today’s look.  I love mixing simple prints, like the vest’s herringbone with the classic blue pinstripes on this button down.  To offset the “preppiness” of the button down and vest combo, I wore a simple and trendy gold choker from KyzBeadz.  KyzBeadz has a ton of fun and affordable jewelry that’s super in right now and I’d definitely recommend the Etsy shop!  The choker coordinates perfectly with my favorite gold high top sneakers, basic gold hoop earrings, gold Kate Spade watch, and gold and white beaded bracelets from Sashka Co.  To add a fall appropriate pop of color, I chose my distressed army green jeans from Old Navy.  I absolutely love these pants, they’re super comfortable and perfect for autumn.

Thanksgiving in a Cowl Neck & 50 Things I’m Thankful For

Happy Thanksgiving y’all!  I hope you’re spending the day eating until you’re sick with those that you love the most.  I love Thanksgiving so much, between getting a few days off school and all the pie, what’s not to love?  Today I’m sharing my outfit from the “Friendsgiving” that I hosted a couple days ago, because I just think this look is so perfect for the Thanksgiving holiday.  In this post I’m also sharing fifty things I’m thankful for, just like I did in my Thanksgiving post last year!  Enjoy!

Thanksgiving Outfit

I got this caramel-brown cowl neck from Old Navy last year, and as much as I love the neckline and color, it’s actually kind of an awkward length.  I challenged myself to style it for Thanksgiving because I think the color just screams fall.  I decided to tuck the sweater into a denim skirt.  I love this skirt because it buttons down the side as opposed to the typical front buttons and I actually cut the hemline myself to give it a more distressed look.  As for shoes, I chose a fun pair of colorful multi textile TOMS booties.  Since the booties are already so colorful, I kept my jewelry simple with my ivory pearl Kendra Scott pieces and some simple white and gold bracelets.
